OAK PLANTING IN HONOR OF JOSEPH BEUYS
OBERSTDORF, VILLA JAUSS

In October, the autumn planting season brought five more oak plantings throughout Bavaria at weekly intervals. Already in 2018, Wilhelm Geierstanger, director of the Kunsthaus Villa Jauss in Oberstdorf, had made contact after a visit to the museum with the wish to realize a planting campaign in Oberstdorf. Lengthy planning, led by Oberstdorf's 3rd mayor Bergit Hornbach-Burgstaller, and the costly search for private sponsors, but above all Corona, finally postponed the planting until the fall of 2022. In October, the basalt stele could finally be planted in a joint action with the tulip tree, which is particularly adapted to the local climate of the Allgäu foothills of the Alps. The planting in the Kunsthaus Villa Jauss was accompanied by the exhibition "hare, deer and shaman - prints by Joseph Beuys".

PHOTOS OF THE OAK PLANTING

Lothar MĂĽller, project manager of the DASMAXIMUM Foundation, will introduce the guests to the project "Oak plantings in honor of Joseph Beuys" and social sculpture according to Beuys.

Together, the holes are dug...
...in which then stele and...

...tree - in this case a tulip tree - be placed.

A tulip tree also needs plenty of water to feel comfortable in its new surroundings.

And also the suitable place on the basalt stele for the sign was found.

Many helping hands have made this tree planting a "social sculpture".

A big thank you also goes to the tree patrons: Here Klaus King, 1st Mayor of Oberstdorf, and Bergith Hornbacher-Burgstaller, 3rd Mayor of Oberstdorf, representing the market town of Oberstdorf. Many thanks also to the Villa Jauss initiative, represented by Angelika BlĂĽml, who is also a tree sponsor of the project.
