Exhibition opening & lecture at Hubert Burda Media in Munich
On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, numerous guests celebrated the opening of the "Center of Reaction" exhibition at the Hubert Burda Media publishing house in Munich. The evening was rounded off with a presentation by BUNTE columnist Mon Müllerschön and an exciting talk on the artist couple by art historian and curator Dr. Selima Niggl.

Large-format black and white photographs by photographer Heide Stolz in combination with graphics from the "Stoffwechsel" series by Uwe Lausen fill the publishing house's own exhibition space. The symbiosis between the two artists is not only reflected in their works, but also in the evening's audience. The recurring artistic and intellectual exchange between the couple can be discovered here in many ways. Themes, motifs and mutual quotations in such different media that they are usually only revealed at second glance, but all the more exciting for that.
The artistic symbiosis between Heide Stolz and Uwe Lausen, the "center of reaction", is not only the subject of the exhibition, but also the focus of the lecture by Dr. Selima Niggl, which accompanied the opening evening. Between painting and photography, the avant-garde of the 1960s and humor, the two find themselves together. For a long time, they both lived on a farm in Aschhofen, near Bruckmühl. Not only did the artist couple produce numerous photographs and paintings there, it also developed into a meeting place for Munich avant-garde artists.
Due to the short creative period of both artists, the names Uwe Lausen and Heide Stolz were under the radar for a long time and have only been rediscovered in recent years, thanks in part to curator Dr. Selima Niggl. The astonishment that this recognition has come so late could not be denied by the evening's audience.
DASMAXIMUM founder Heiner Friedrich and publisher Dr. Hubert Burda are connected by the art scene and passion for collecting of the 1960s, which also includes the work of Uwe Lausen. Parallel to the exhibition at Hubert Burda Verlag in Munich, photographs by Heide Stolz are currently being shown alongside Lausen's paintings at DASMAXIMUM in Traunreut. Both exhibitions can be seen until September 2024. A tour of Stolz and Lausen at the DASMAXIMUM museum will take place on August 18, 2024 at 2 pm. Participation in the tour is free of charge as part of museum admission.
