In the press release on the presentation of the Federal Cross of Merit to Heiner Friedrich in mid-July, the Bavarian State Ministry of Art emphasized the ambitious mediation work at Museum DASMAXIMUM.

Building on Heiner Friedrich's vision for the museum, which is based on tranquility, presence and concentration, the entire concept is not aimed at imparting knowledge, but rather the individual experience of art. "Art speaks," according to Heiner Friedrich.

The projects WORT:BILDER for social institutions and KunstWortKunst for schools in the region use poetry and literature to open a space of association for the arts. The KunstBegegnung enable a concentrated and intensive engagement with just one artist, which also has positive health effects, as confirmed by the Medical School Hamburg 2019.

The latest offering is the ZukunftsAtelier (Future Studio), based on Joseph Beuys' idea of social sculpture and aimed at students in the 7th grade and above. The project is supra-regional, and a Munich school is also taking part. In a 3-module workshop, the students jointly develop creative ideas for a better future. In the fall, the classes can present their results at the k1 cultural and event center.

In two Discussion rounds in Traunreut and Munich Museum director Dr. Maria Schindelegger and art educator Susanne Frigge, together with Irmgard Schwoshuber from the Traunreut secondary school and lecturer in art education, and Dr. Annette Schemmel from the Theresiengymnasium in Munich, will shed light on the innovative mediation approaches at the museum and introduce the ZukunftsAtelier:

  • Thursday, October 6 at 18:30 in the premises of the BMW Foundation at Praterinsel 3, 80538 Munich.
