With the DASMAXIMUM museum, legendary art patron Heiner Friedrich gave his hometown of Traunreut a cultural venue of international appeal in 2011. Two years later, on the initiative of Trostberg notary Georg Mehler, the Friends and Sponsors of DASMAXIMUM e.V. was founded. One of the main goals of the association is to enable project work with children, young people and social groups who are not familiar with museums. In the last ten years, it has succeeded in building up a much-appreciated offer aimed at school classes, training centers, but also at dementia patients and people with various social or physical impairments.
In 2023, the Circle of Friends and Sponsors will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Time to take stock. Which goals have been achieved, where is it important to strengthen our own commitment? In an exchange with Anna Arndt and Christine Richter from the Kick ins Leben Foundation, we also want to talk about how we as a cultural institution can succeed in responding to challenges in our society and help shape change. Kick ins Leben is committed to educational equality regardless of social or ethnic background. Education is an essential prerequisite for social participation. Cultural education is surprisingly successful in breaking down social barriers and can thus be an important building block for an educationally equitable and solidarity-based society.
