FutureAtelier 2022

"The future we want must be invented."
- Joseph Beuys

What bothers us, what would we like to change, who do we want to be and how can we do it? These are the questions that five school classes have been asking themselves over the past few weeks in our ZukunftsAtelier.
Based on Beuys' 7000 Oaks, the students had the opportunity to develop their own social sculpture in their class. The result were great ideas, signs and actions that were presented to the public in the fall of 2022 in K1.

"LOOK BEHIND THE WALL!"

Mental Problems & Mental Health

Inspired by Joseph Beuys and the FutureAtelier in the museum DASMAXIMUM under the direction of Susanne Frigge, we, the class 10c of the Johannes-Heidenhain-Gymnasium Traunreut, came up with a social sculpture on the topic of "How can I change my own environment for the better through collective action?".

We have agreed that the topic of mental problems and illnesses requires more attention. We think it is very important to pay more attention to your own environment in order to notice how your fellow human beings are really doing.

WE DEMAND MORE SENSITIVITY TOWARDS AFFECTED PEOPLE WITH MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS!

"OUR NATURE'S FUTURE"

We, the class 6b, did not want to agree on a single topic. We were much more interested in: What can and should our future together look like?
So we got together in small groups and modeled our own 3D worlds, with the values and ideas that are important to us in our future.

Many colorful landscapes have emerged that together form a large whole and remind us to shape our own future.

"I AM IMPORTANT AND RIGHT!"
Body Positivity

As part of the "Future Studio" project of the DASMAXIMUM museum in Traunreut, we students from Class 8b of the Hertzhaimer-Gymnasium in Trostberg dealt with social grievances. First, of course, the "big" problems of our time such as war, climate change and racism came to mind. However, when we studied Joseph Beuys' Social Sculpture, we learned that in his understanding, every person is an artist and can help shape his or her environment through creative action.

So it made sense to choose a topic that concerns us young people on a daily basis and that we ourselves can actively address by becoming aware of our concerns and wishes.

Self-acceptance and a positive body image beyond discriminating beauty ideals are basic prerequisites for having a positive effect on others and thus encountering society without prejudice.

Pressure and psyche in pupils

We, students of the Traunstein Chiemgau Gymnasium, have been dealing with mental health in adolescents. The focus was on the question: How can we convey to outsiders the feeling of pressure and constant expectations towards us young people? The result is videos that illustrate this feeling in a sensitizing way using fruit and vegetables and the use of tools, such as a screw clamp, files and knives.

"CAN'T YOU HEAR US SCREAMING?"

Factory farming

As part of the project days of the Theresien-Gymnasium Munich, we students (7th - 11th grade) dealt with social sculpture in the sense of Josef Beuys. Josef Beuys assumes that society is a sculpture that MUST be shaped.

"Every man is an artist" - Josef Beuys

During our work, we were made more aware than ever of the problems of factory farming. We experienced the confinement on our own bodies and have thus been stimulated to think about our meat consumption.

WE DEMAND LESS AND MORE CONSCIOUS MEAT CONSUMPTION!
